The basic characteristics of a good grounding installation are: 


•   To provide a low impedance path to ground.
•  To withstand and dispel repeated fault currents and short circuits or lightning strikes.
•  To be sufficiently resistant to corrosion to ensure performance throughout the lifetime of the equipment being protected.
