  • WHAT ARE THEY?

    Resistors are components that are interleaved in electrical circuits to modify the working conditions of equipment such as generators, motors or other receivers. Its operation is manifested in the form of heat energy, producing a temperature rise, which will affect the components of the resistance itself and other equipment located in its vicinity.

    The mass of the resistive material, the constructive form and the location of the resistance, are aspects to be studied carefully in the design and manufacture of a power resistance.

    The maximum permissible temperature increase in the resistive material, the insulators and the air at the exit of the resistance is regulated by different standards: NEMA, VDE, IEEE, etc. or the particular specifications of each project.

  • APPLICATIONS

    KLK designs and builds all types of electric power resistors, the most important applications being:

    • Grounding of neutrals
    • High voltage harmonics filtering
    • Resistors for applications in wind generators
    • Loading banks
    • Starting and braking of motors (for rotary resistors and / or frequency inverters)
    • Rail Traction

    When a new type of resistance is designed or agreed with customers, type tests are carried out to verify compliance with the contractual specifications. In addition, all resistors supplied are subjected to the corresponding series tests.
