Harmonic filtering

Many modern industrial components incorporating static converters generate harmonics in power networks.

In harmonic filtering networks resistors are placed in order to extend the spectrum of attenuated frequencies and so that their efficiency is not affected by changes in operating conditions, thereby increasing their effectiveness.

The basic features for designing a resistance for harmonic filters are:

  • Ohmic value.
  • Power to be dissipated.
  • Operating cycle.
  • Level of insulation.
  • Degree of protection of the envelope.
